Thanks to generous donations, the Paul Hoecker Research Group was able to have the long-neglected tomb, which was already threatened by decay, restored.
In April 2025, Philipp Gufler from the Paul Hoecker Research Group, together with Karol Radziszewski, Michał Suchora, and Giovanni Pilato, visited the artist’s birthplace and his family grave in Długopole Górne (until 1945 Oberlangenau). This is where Paul Hoecker found his final resting place in 1910.
Thanks to generous donations, the research group and the FQAM were able to have the long-neglected and already decaying tomb restored, thus restoring its dignity. It is the last remaining tomb of German origin in the graveyard and stands as a silent testimony to the complex German-Polish history of the region.

The family gravestone was designed by Paul Hoecker during his lifetime. Through our efforts, the base of the stone was straightened, the fence renovated, and the monument carefully cleaned so that the inscription is once again clearly legible.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all donors—your commitment helps to preserve the memory of Paul Hoecker and make historical connections visible for future generations. We would also like to thank Arkadiusz Raczyński, the pastor of the parish of Długopole Górne, who accompanied the project every step of the way with great openness and support.
